Carrying Capacity Based on Ecosystem Services for Biodiversity Conservation in the Petungkriyono Essential Ecosystem Area Candidate

نویسندگان

چکیده

The Petungkriyono protected and production forests qualified for the Essential Ecosystem Area (EEA). Perhutani manages area, covering approximately ±7,683.33 hectares, with 80% being secondary natural habitat endangered flora fauna. This research aimed to analyze suitability of EEA biodiversity preservation, protection, sustainable use, ecosystem restoration using carrying capacity based on services (CCES). used a participatory approach expert opinion weighting sum land cover landscape variables. results showed that 74.12% AAE candidate had high very CCES classes were suitable area protection priorities. Meanwhile, 14.35% was in low class use

Ecosystem Services and the Economics of Biodiversity Conservation

The concept of ecosystems services provides a robust and complementary rationale for biodiversity conservation to the traditional arguments based on intrinsic value. In principle, it also provides a mechanism for optimizing investments in biodiversity conservation and directing them to where they are most useful. This requires the valuation of ecosystem services, and in particular, the contribu...

Conservation Planning for Ecosystem Services

Despite increasing attention to the human dimension of conservation projects, a rigorous, systematic methodology for planning for ecosystem services has not been developed. This is in part because flows of ecosystem services remain poorly characterized at local-to-regional scales, and their protection has not generally been made a priority. We used a spatially explicit conservation planning fra...

Intersection between biodiversity conservation, agroecology, and ecosystem services

Agroecological research has improved our understanding of the drivers and benefits of biodiversity, thus providing the scientific basis needed to achieve agricultural multifunctionality. We review how agroecology has contributed to our understanding of the effects of local and landscape level drivers on beneficial insects, as well as on the ecosystem services they provide. Several syntheses fro...

Green Infrastructure Design Based on Spatial Conservation Prioritization and Modeling of Biodiversity Features and Ecosystem Services.

There is high-level political support for the use of green infrastructure (GI) across Europe, to maintain viable populations and to provide ecosystem services (ES). Even though GI is inherently a spatial concept, the modern tools for spatial planning have not been recognized, such as in the recent European Environment Agency (EEA) report. We outline a toolbox of methods useful for GI design tha...

Salvage logging, ecosystem processes, and biodiversity conservation.

We summarize the documented and potential impacts of salvage logging--a form of logging that removes trees and other biological material from sites after natural disturbance. Such operations may reduce or eliminate biological legacies, modify rare postdisturbance habitats, influence populations, alter community composition, impair natural vegetation recovery, facilitate the colonization of inva...
